Either franchised, or one of a kind, here is a list of some super famous celebs who own their own restaurants!! 


 

Jay-Z – The 40/40 Club

The 40/40 club first opened in 2003 in New York City. The name comes from a term used in baseball when an individual has 40 home runs and 40 stolen bases in a single season, to date, only four baseball players have earned this title. The 40/40 club now has other locations, including the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, and st Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.




 







Justin Timberlake – Southern Hospitality BBQ

Southern Hospitality was created by Justin Timberlake, Eytan Sugarman, and Trace Ayala in 2007. The New York City restaurant offers Memphis-Style BBQ. Enjoy their delicious food in a great atmosphere that offers live music. 








Donnie and Mark Wahlberg – Wahlburgers

Celebrity brothers Mark and Donnie Wahlberg founded Wahlburgers with their brother Paul in 2011. Prior to the opening of Wahlburgers, the family also opened Alma Noves. Wahlburgers gained a lot of popularity in 2014 when a TV series by the same name first aired on A&E. The Reality TV series followed the family as they discuses the origin of the restaurants and their journey as they continue to expand. 









Ryan Gosling – Tagine, Beverly Hills

Tagine is a Moroccan restaurant located in Beverly Hills, California. Ryan Gosling teamed up with Chris Angulo, and Chef Ben Benameur to open the restaurant in 2004. Chef Ben gets his recipe inspiration from his grandmother which he shares in his dishes each night to the restaurants 10 tables. 








Jon Bon Jovi – JBJ Soul Kitchen

JBJ Soul Kitchen is a non-profit Community Restaurant run by The Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation. Members of the community are able to volunteer at the kitchen to earn dining certificates for them and their families. They currently have two New Jersey Locations in Red Bank and Toms River. The menu has no prices , you order what you want and make the minimum donation as payment. Guests who are able to pay more are donating to help feed other members of the community.



 

Arnold Schwarzenegger – Planet Hollywood, New York City

In october 1991, Planet Hollywood in New York City was launched with backing from Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis, and Demi Moore. The idea came from Bryan Kestner, former actor, with a similar theme restaurant modeled after Hard Rock Cafe. the restaurants featured movie memorabilia and now has hundreds of locations globally.

Studies have shown  that most people work better when they are motivated by management. Some people may think that it takes a lot of time and effort to actively motivate your staff, this is , in fact, not true. While some people are self-motivating, not everyone has that ability. Many people rely on a motivating workplace to be motivated. Motivating environments allow people to push themselves harder and overall makes their daily work life much more enjoyable.


There are many different ways in which you can motivate your staff daily uses some of these helpful suggestions.


Provide Incentives

Incentives are always a good way to boost motivation in the workplace. Incentives don’t have to be huge, they can be simple things that will let the employee know you care. Some great incentives include, paid days off, holiday bonus, or any other low-cost way you can show your employees your appreciation.

Opportunities for Advancement

Most people aren’t going to be fully motivated knowing there is nowhere for them to move up in their position. Giving the opportunity to move up in the company is a way of rewarding employees for their good work. This can make a huge difference in motivation.

Give Meaningful Work

People are not going to be motivated in any kind of way if they feel that the work they are doing is meaningless and not worth their time. Make sure you are giving all of your employees meaningful work so that they know they are playing an important role in the business.

Make Everyone’s Opinion Heard

Make sure that  at some point during each work week or before a big company wide decisions made that you give all employees an opportunity to give their ideas and opinions about the company. This allows them to know that they’re thoughts are important to the company. It is also a great way to get helpful information from all departments in the business, thus allowing for new and innovative ideas that may better the company in tremendous ways.

Don’t Micromanage 

Stand back and let your employees do their job. No one like to have their boss standing over their shoulder and breathing down their neck. This drives people crazy and is in no way motivating them. Take a step back and let them work their own way, this lets them know you trust them and trust the decisions they make.




Motivation is very important in every work situation, as the happier the employees, the better the company will succeed.

Inventory is a huge aspect of any business. It can be the reason for profits, or the reason for losses. Improper tracking of inventory can turn assets into liabilities. Properly managing inventory can be difficult, it is challenging to determine the best way for you to keep track of inventory. In order for a business to stay accurate and up to date with their inventory, below are three of the biggest inventory mistakes managers are making today.


Failure to Forecast


How can you forecast for the future if you don’t know the current levels of your on hand inventory? You can’t! It is essential to know what your future demands may be, therefore you must forecast. If you have been properly tracking your inventory for a long period of time, it makes it a lot easier to look back and find out what your future demands may be. For example, if you just assume that everyday you’re going to sell 10 grape sodas, but in actuality, you sell a completely different amount each day of the week. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday you’re making more sales of grape sodas, the rest of the week you’re barely selling any. This is important information to know when you make orders. If you’re getting orders on Wednesday, after the weekend you may not have any sodas left in stock after a busy  weekend. Forecasting this information is so important.

Knowing the trends and what you’re selling more of on which days is going to give you a better chance at meeting demand, which will then lead to more profits. It is easy to forecast once you have previous information on other sales. This is going to help you out a lot in the long run of your company and make ordering very simple.


No Automation

If you are still using pen and paper to track your inventory, you’re doing it all wrong. You need to have a real time inventory management software that will allow you to be completely accurate and up to date with all your inventory. An automated system will allow for multiple users to have access at any given time, at multiple locations. Automated inventory gives you real time data and makes it very simple to find errors or to update amounts.

Automating your process will cut tremendous time when it comes to taking inventory. It will also allow you to find your biggest wasters and find where you need to make improvements. An automated systems will save you tons of money in the long run as it is so much simpler and g=can give you accurate information that you can;t get from a manual paper count.




Unqualified/Improperly Trained Employees


Inventory can be a tedious task for employees at any kind of business. It is important that whoever is taking inventory is doing it correctly. Often times, employees may not be trained properly or may be unqualified for inventory. The lack of a formal training on how to take inventory from the start of the employees time with the company can lead to them making mistakes into the future. This can lead to inaccurate data that may have a huge impact on the company as a whole.


In order to prevent this, it is important to set up a formal training session for all employees who may be taking inventory. It is important for them to be able to have guidance and assistance when they take inventory for the first couple of times until they become familiar enough to confidently do it themselves. Three important things to remember when it comes to having the right people take inventory are hiring the right people, holding inventory managers accountable, and, as stated above, emphasize training from the start.

February 1st is widely known to be National Freedom Day as this marks the anniversary when President Abraham Lincoln signed the amendment outlawing slavery in 1865. Aside from this memorable event, February 1st is a well know date in the history of food.


First of all, February 1st is Baked Alaska Day! Baked Alaska is a dessert filled with ice cream and cake and topped with meringue. Also known as “Omelette Norvegienne”.  According to the National Day Calendar, Charles Ranhofer, chef at Delmonico’s Restaurant in New York, was famous for naming and renaming dishes after notorious events. He chose the name Baked Alaska after the heated argument that took place over the United States purchase of Alaska from Russia in 1868. The names fits the events purfectly as it is a nearly frozen dessert that is toasted in a hot oven before being served. This day also marks the Feast of Saint Brigid of Ireland, patron of cattle, chicken farmers, dairymaids. Also known as Saint Brigid of Kildare. The feast was originally a pagan festival called Imbolc, marking the beginning of spring. It was historically observed throughout Ireland and Scotland and is one of the four Gaelic seasonal festivities.



Today marks the first day of African Heritage & Health Week, which runs from February 1-7. The week commemorates the foods, flavors and healthy cooking techniques that were using in traditional cooking of our African ancestors from Africa, South America, the Caribbean, and the American South.

On February 1st 1960, four ‘colored’ students from the Agricultural and Technical College in Greensboro, North Carolina sat down at the lunch counter in Woolworth’s and ordered coffee. They were refused service, but still made history.

On this day in 1953, James Lewis Kraft died.
James Lewis Kraft is was the founder of Kraft Foods Inc, a wholesale cheese distributor and producer. In 1916 Kraft patented pasteurized process cheese, a low cost cheese that would not spoil. Not a great hit with the public, but the U.S. army purchased over 6 million tins of it during WW I. During the depression, it became popular because of its low cost. Kraft Foods continues to grow today while changing to meet consumer needs.



1982 Wolfgang Puck and his wife & partner, Barbara Lazaroff, opened their restaurant ‘Spago’ in Los Angeles. The first Spago was located on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood. Wolfgang Puck is a well-known famous chef across the globe. He is known for amazing restaurant hospitality and also for being the ultimate in mall aspects of the culinary arts.

Also on this day in 1982, a cow in Cuba, named Ubre Blanca, set a world record when it produced 28 gallons of milk in one day, which is about 4 times an average cow’s daily output. Ubre Blanca later set the record for total output during a 305 day lactation period of 6,405 gallons. Today, the record holder for most milk produced is Gigi the cow. From Brooklyn, Wisconsin, she produced 74,650 pounds of milk in one 365-day period.


Finally, on February 1st in 2008, New Zealand Crop & Food Research scientists announced they have created a tear-free onion. Dr. Colin Eady said ““Through RNAi, genes can be specifically shut down or turned off. By shutting down the lachrymatory factor synthase gene, we have stopped valuable sulphur compounds being converted to the tearing agent, and instead made them available for redirection into compounds, some of which are known for their flavour and health properties.”

Tofu

Tofu is created by coagulating soy milk and then pressing the resulting curds into soft white blocks. Tofu can be marinated to suit either sweet or savory dishes and can be soft, firm, or extra firm. It is low in calories and high in protein. Tofu is eaten as a substitute in dishes where you would normally have meat. 

Sweet Potato

Sweet Potato is a large, sweet root vegetable originating from Central or South America. Sweet potatoes can be baked, turned into fries, mashed, or made into chips.

Squash

Lentils are very versatile, they can be used to make soup, pair them with rise, or even simply add them to a salad.



Beans

Beans are seeds from one of several flowering plants. they come in many different types including lima beans, kidney bean, chickpea, soybean and many, many more. They are very versatile and also affordable. Beans are very high in antioxidants, protein and fiber. Beans can be purchased in an assortment of ways, and there is so many different way they can be eaten. One of the ,post common things to do with beans today is to make hummus. Beans can also be added to soups, salads, and pasta.

Quinoa

Quinoa is a flowering plant that is harvested mainly for its edible seeds. Originating from South America, cooked quinoa supplies similar nutrients as wheat and rice. Quinoa is also gluten-free. Quinoa is often eaten as a side dish, however, it is also great to add to a main. Quinoa can be added to both sweet and savory dishes, from baked into cookies, to thrown into a salad. 

Tempeh

A traditional soy product originating from Indonesia. Made through controlled fermentation that binds soybeans into cake form. Tempeh is best when steamed or marinated. however, it is also quite good when you cut it into thin slices and grilled or fried until crispy, or crumbled and added to sauces and stews.
